Greenano is dedicated to bringing innovation and advancing sustainable aquaculture in Canada. This past weekend, the CEO and CMO visited the Hoy/Scott Watershed Society to inspect the site to evaluate how nanobubble oxygenation technology can increase the oxygen levels within their hatchery in support of salmon health and survival. For optimal fish growth and development, oxygen levels within the hatchery must be maintained regularly, and hatcheries often have difficulties keeping oxygenation stable.

The visit was a chance for a field assessment and for discussions with Tyler Storgaard, the vice president of Hoy/Scott Watershed Society, considering how Greenano's nanobubble technology may provide oxygen to young salmon with a much more efficient and chemical-free approach during their most crucial life stages.

Innovating Oxygenation for Salmon Health

Following a thorough site assessment and technical discussions, we’re excited to announce that Greenano has officially partnered with Hoy/Scott Watershed Society to enhance hatchery conditions using our cutting-edge nanobubble technology. This collaboration will focus on:

  • Optimizing dissolved oxygen levels to support fish growth and resilience.

  • Reducing oxygen stress to improve survival rates.

  • Providing a more sustainable, energy efficient solution for hatchery operations.

How Nanobubbles Improve Aquaculture Operations?

High-efficiency oxygenation:
Our cavitation-based nanobubble generators provide a much more effective method of oxygenation than traditional aeration because they penetrate deeper into the water column and remain in suspension for a longer period. Nanobubble implementation has better oxygen distribution, which directly benefits fish in hatcheries and grow-out tanks.

Algae and Biofilm Control: Nanobubbles control harmful algal blooms in aquaculture tanks by further providing oxygen to the water, creating an optimal environment for beneficial microorganisms to compete with algae. This helps keep the environment clean and healthy for farmed fish by eliminating excess organic accumulation.

Enhanced Filtration Efficiency: Nanobubbles assist in enhancing water filtration efficiency by breaking down organic matter, increasing the efficiency of biofilters and mechanical filtration systems. This allows for better waste removal, creates clearer water and reduces clogging in the RAS in hatcheries, at the same time lowering maintenance expenses.

Advancing Sustainable Aquaculture in Canada

This partnership marks an important milestone in Greenano’s mission to promote sustainable water management across aquaculture, hatcheries, and environmental conservation projects in Canada. By integrating nanobubble technology into hatchery operations, we’re taking another step toward healthier aquatic ecosystems, without the need for harmful chemicals or excessive energy consumption.

We’re incredibly grateful for the warm welcome from the Hoy/Scott Watershed Society and look forward to sharing real-world impact data as we implement this initiative. Stay tuned for updates!
